Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said on Thursday Faisal Maina, son of Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTT), has fled to the United States (U.S).
EFCC’s prosecuting counsel, Mohammed Abubakar, said this at the Federal High Court in Abuja where the younger Maina is being prosecuted on three counts of money laundering.
Mr Abubakar said EFCC got information that Faisal sneaked to the U.S through the Republic of Niger.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday, told a Federal High Court in Abuja that Faisal Maina, son of Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman, defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTT), has fled to the United States of America (U.S.A).
Faisal was re-arraigned in February 2020 on an amended three-count charge, bordering on money laundering and false declaration of assets.
Faisal is accused of operating an account he used to divert various sums of money, including N58 million.
At the resumed hearing of the matter yesterday, counsel to the EFCC, Mohammed Abubakar, told the trial Judge, Justice Okon Abang Faisal, sneaked to the U.S through the Republic of Niger.

Counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mohammed Abubakar, on Thursday, told Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, that information at their disposal has it that Faisal sneaked to the USA through the Republic of Niger.
Justice Abang, in a committal proceeding ruling, had ordered Faisal’s surety, Sani Dan-Galadima (a House of Representatives member) to forfeit a property used as a bail bond.
It would be recalled that Sani Dan-Galadima had begged the judge to rescind on his decision. However, Justice Abang rejected the plea.
ABUJA – Counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the defence gave conflicting information about the whereabouts of Faisal, son of Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman, defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTT).
At the resumed trial, the EFCC counsel, Mohammed Abubakar, told Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, that the agency had obtained a bench warrant from the court for the arrest of Faisal and his apprehension before the court.
“We have been making serious effort but up till now, we have not succeeded,” he said.
Abubakar said from the available information at the EFCC’s disposal, Faisal “has absconded to the USA (United States of America).
