FEMA Awards $110 Million to Oregon to Support Vaccination Efforts – Tillamook County Pioneer

Governor’s Statement on Receiving $110 Million from FEMA to Support COVID-19 Vaccination Efforts (Salem, OR) Governor Kate Brown today issued the following statement on FEMA’s announcement that Oregon will receive $110 million in federal funding to assist the state with vaccine distribution efforts: “I am extremely pleased that Oregon will receive these critical funds from FEMA as we continue our efforts to ramp up vaccinations across the state. These emergency funds bring some welcome financial relief and will help ensure the cost of vaccinating Oregonians will not be a barrier to our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. “I want to thank our partners at FEMA for streamlining the public assistance grant process. The expedited funding will help the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Office of Emergency Management provide vaccine access to Oregonians and support local vaccination efforts across the state.”

Pamplin Media Group - Technology provides valuable seconds

Technology provides valuable seconds March 09 2021 When disaster strikes, being prepared can make a big difference. A preparedness tool called ShakeAlert Earthquake Early Warning System will be activated in Oregon on March 11. Already in place in California, ShakeAlert detects significant earthquakes quickly and sends an alert to people before shaking arrives at their location. The time between receiving the alert and feeling the shaking gives people critical seconds to protect themselves. No action needs to be taken on March 11 and no sign up is required, commented Paula Fasano Negele, public information officer for Oregon Office of Emergency Management. These important alerts come automatically on most cell phones making a distinctive sound and a text message that reads Earthquake Detected! Drop, Cover, Hold On. Protect Yourself.
