KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. – The Bootleg Fire in Klamath County continues to grow.
The fire was first reported at about 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7 on Fuego Mountain approximately 11 miles northeast of Sprague River. By about 5:00 p.m., the fire was estimated to be about 100 acres in size. By Wednesday morning, it expanded to 3,000 acres. Thursday morning, that number was 16,814 acres and 1% contained.
On Thursday evening, the upper Tableland area was placed on a Level 3 (GO!) evacuation notification. Level 2 (Get Set) notifications were issued for areas to the east of the upper Tableland. Level 1 (Get Ready) notifications are in place for Sycan Estates north of the town of Beatty, residents north of Drew Road near Sprauge River, and Godawa Springs Road north of Beatty.

Oregon Governor Kate Brown is expected to reveal the winner of the state s Take Your Shot, Oregon campaign, aimed at increasing the vaccination rate against COVID-19.
According to the governor s office, the winner in the $1 million lottery will be announced on Friday in a live broadcast.
Oregon health officials first announced their new efforts to raise vaccination rates statewide by offering Oregonians over the age of 18 a chance to win $1 million. In addition to one person winning the big jackpot, there would also be 36 $10,000 prizes, one winner in each county, officials said. Oregonians ages 12-17 will also have a chance to win one of five $100,000 Oregon College Savings Plan scholarships.
