Human remains near county border identified Remains identified as 39-year-old Redmond woman were discovered Dec. 8 near Highway 126 Human remains found near the Prineville/Deschutes County border earlier this month have been identified as a 39-year-old Redmond woman. According to a Crook County Sheriff s Office media release Friday, the remains have been identified as Ann Jeanetta Penton. Authorities reported that she was known to reside in a transient camp a couple miles from where her body was located. She had been deceased for some time and her identification was made from her fingerprints and known tattoos. Penton s remains were discovered on BLM land near Highway 126 on Dec. 8. After Crook County deputies responded to the scene, an investigation was launched with assistance from the Major Incident Team, Crook County District Attorney s Office and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab.
