Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost recovering from COVID-19 at home

The Republican is the first statewide Ohio officeholder known to have contracted coronavirus amid the nearly 10-month-old pandemic. The 64-year-old Yost has remained home and is feeling well, his office confirmed to The Dispatch. The former two-term state auditor and Delaware County prosecutor did not require hospitalization. Since Yost became ill over the holidays, he was not in contact with members of his staff and none was required to quarantine themselves, his office said. Yost did not respond to a text message seeking comment. Gov. Mike DeWine briefly thought he had contracted coronavirus Aug. 6, but it stemmed from a false result from a rapid antigen test administered before a visit to Ohio from President Donald Trump. After DeWine skipped that visit, another test later the same day confirmed he did not have COVID-19.
