Local News Briefs: ODOT work to impact local highways Staff Report ODOT work to impact local highways  MARION - Some road construction projects are expected to affect highways in Marion County this week. All outlined work is weather permitting. Ohio 309 eastbound and westbound between Robinson Road and Ohio 37 will close starting Tuesday through April 13 for tile replacement. The detour will be Ohio 37 northbound to Ohio 67 westbound to Kenton-Marseilles Road to Ohio 309 or reverse.  U.S. 23 northbound and southbound at Ohio 98 will have daily lane restrictions from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. starting Monday through May 2021 for shoulder widening. This is in addition to the daily lane restrictions on Ohio 98 at U.S. 23 for bridge work through April.

Middletown PD to aggressively patrol the roads on St. Patrick’s Day Journal-News and last updated 2021-03-16 21:38:25-04 MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — The Middletown Police Department, through a grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety plan to keep the roads safe around the St. Patrick’s Day holiday, the city said in a statement released Tuesday. Police will be targeting speeders, violators of seatbelt laws, aggressive drivers, and potential DUI offenders. Authorities ask that people who plan to drink at St. Patrick’s Day celebrations make travel arrangements beforehand to prevent impaired driving. Citizens who witness suspicious activity or see drivers who are potentially impaired are asked to call the police department at 513-425-7700.

Nathaniel Kubik | Darke County Media GREENVILLE The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Monday afternoon to discuss and approve community and business development grants throughout the county. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall, and Larry Holmes were all present. The board approved the annual renewal of three service agreements with the Darke Co. Jail, Government Center, and Courthouse. All three agreements approve scheduled maintenance at each location that is to be performed by Comfort Systems USA. The three agreements are to be paid in a total amount of $7,406.
