For the eighth year in a row, The Dispatch was named the best among Ohio s largest newspapers by the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors association. Dispatch.com was awarded first place for best digital presence for the third year straight.
The Dispatch and its staff won 24 awards, including nine first-place entries. Longtime editor Danny Goodwin, who retired in 2020, was inducted into the Ohio Journalism Hall of Fame. News-Messenger, News Herald staffers earn 13 Ohio AP nominations

Nominations in the annual contest were announced Tuesday.
The News-Messenger and Port Clinton News Herald are in the contest s Division 1 and compete against 38 other publications, the largest number of competitors among the five divisions that are based on circulation numbers.
“It is always an honor to be nominated for the prestigious Ohio APME awards, and our team deserves the recognition for the outstanding journalism they produce on a daily basis, especially considering the obstacles and risks they are facing while working during a global pandemic,” said David Yonke, editor of the Fremont News-Messenger and the Port Clinton News Herald.
