A social worker sees a dog chained up in the bitter cold without food, water or shelter in the yard of a client s home.
But because she is concerned about violating the patient s privacy or is afraid of retaliation, the worker might not report the case of potential animal abuse to authorities.
A bill that Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine recently signed into law aims to change that.
House Bill 33, which takes effect April 6, requires all social workers and veterinarians to report suspected animal abuse to authorities. The law also mandates that authorities such as animal control officers and dog wardens report animal and child or elder abuse to social services professionals, to create a system of cross-reporting.

But a new addition to the process could not have been more timely when census invitations started to be received in March: For the first time, residents had the option to fill out the census form online, in addition to the options of responding via phone and mail.
But one positive was that many traded coworkers for furry friends, and those pets probably had – and still might be having – a positive impact on their mental well-being, according to experts.

STOW–Dr. Leo John Kline Jr., 87, passed away suddenly Dec. 11, 2020, with his wife and family members at his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Leo Sr.; sister, Frances; and twin sister, Mildred. He leaves behind a loving, dedicated wife of 66 years, Barbara; two sons, Leo III (Lori) and Kevin (Jill); three daughters, Karen Kline (Robert Huff), Paula (Dave) Ross, and Carol (Dale) Novy; along with nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
“Doc,” as many knew him, was born Dec. 31, 1932, in Salem, Ohio. He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1957 and opened the Graham Road Animal Hospital in 1960 in Stow, where a life devoted to his family, profession, and community took root.

Biological E Limited (BE), a Hyderabad-based vaccine & pharmaceutical company, and the Ohio State Innovation Foundation (OSIF), US announced the execution of an exclusive license agreement for a COVID-19 vaccine technology. OSIF has licensed novel live attenuated measles virus vectored vaccine candidates against SARS-CoV-2, which were developed by the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, exclusively to (BE).
