Credit Ohio State University Department Athletics Twenty-nine new plaintiffs filed suit against Ohio State University Monday over the schools failure to take steps to stop abuse by former team doctor Richard Strauss. One of the plaintiffs alleges he was abused by Strauss as a minor attending a wrestling tournament, and that the abuse continued when he became a student at OSU. Many of the plaintiffs filed anonymously. The lawsuit also alleges at least 50 people in the athletic department were aware of the abuse. In 2019, investigators hired by Ohio State concluded that Strauss sexually abused at least 177 students between 1979 and his retirement in 1998, and that university personnel repeatedly failed to act. But over 350 former students have file 23 lawsuits over the schools inaction.
