Right before police fired multiple shots at Jackson, a single shot was fired. The video initially shows two Columbus police officers struggling to subdue and retrieve a gun that Jackson had in his possession. One police officer used a taser on Jackson when his gun fired an initial shot.

Authorities: Cleveland officer fatally shoots murder suspect By Mark Gillispie - Associated Press CLEVELAND A man was shot and killed by a Cleveland police officer Thursday morning when he pulled a gun from his waistband as officers tried to arrest him on a murder warrant, Police Chief Calvin Williams said. Officers initially responded to a resident’s call about the man around 4 a.m. Thursday and returned about four hours later, Williams said. A gun was found near the man’s body, Williams said. The 25-year-old man, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was wanted for a homicide that occurred about eight blocks from where he was killed, Williams said.

COLUMBUS, Ohio  Amid a new wave of nationwide protests after the shooting death of Daunte Wright by a Minnesota police officer, another Black man was fatally shot this week by police officers at a hospital outside Ohio s capital city. Miles Jackson, 27, of Columbus, was killed in an exchange of gunfire with officers at Mount Carmel St. Ann s medical center in Westerville on Monday. Columbus police on Wednesday afternoon released body camera footage of the incident and identified two officers involved in the shooting. Andrew Howe and Ryan Kirchbaum, both 15-year veterans of the Columbus Division of Police, discharged their weapons and were among other police officers involved in the shooting.
