A Black teenage girl was shot and killed by police in Ohio on the same day the verdict in the George Floyd murder trial was reached.
Family members identified 16-year-old Makiyah Bryant as the victim of the shooting in the city of Columbus.
Paula Bryant told local 10TV that her daughter, whom she described as an honor roll student, was shot dead in the incident on Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting took place when officers were called to a disturbance on the southeast side of the city after reports of an attempted stabbing.

Columbus Police said that one person was killed in the officer-involved shooting that took place on the east side of Columbus, Ohio, on Tuesday afternoon
Witnesses said that the victim was a 15-year-old girl but police did not indicate who had been shot, just that the officer was not the victim
Authorities had been responding to an initial stabbing call at around 4.30pm
The shots fire call was made just 15 minutes later
