Board members collectively said while they support COVID vaccinations, the late start for the promotion might result in spending tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars for a diminishing return on the outcome. Chamber of Commerce officials and community and health leaders asked commissioners last month to spend $25,000 in COVID funds on an informational campaign using local media to encourage county residents to get vaccinated. The board delayed a final decision until the group could ask the City of Mansfield to contribute some of its COVID relief funds to the project.
