Ohio University Trustee and 1988 Honors Tutorial College alumna Anna Harvey has been named the 15
th president and CEO of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), an independent and international research nonprofit organization.
“I am deeply honored to have been asked to lead the SSRC as it approaches its centenary,” Professor Harvey said in a release from the SSRC. “The SSRC was founded to support social science in the public interest, with the ultimate goal of more effective and more equitable public policy. There is much important and hard work to be done to reach that goal, and the SSRC is uniquely positioned to unite the research, policy, and philanthropic communities in the work of understanding how our societies can better support human well-being around the globe. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed a new student member, Sarah O. Ladipo, to the Ohio University Board of Trustees.
Ladipo, of Pickerington, Ohio, a sophomore studying philosophy with a war and peace certificate, will serve a two-year term effective on May 14, 2021, and ending on May 13, 2023.
“On behalf of my fellow Trustees, I would like to give a warm welcome to Sarah,” Board Chair Janelle Coleman said. “We believe that Sarah will help to ensure that students’ perspectives and needs are part of the equation when decisions are made for our institution. We look forward to collaborating with her as she begins this new role, which is of great value to the Board.”

The Ohio University Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on Monday, May 10 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
The meeting will be conducted online in accordance with Ohio House Bill 197, which allows for public meetings to be conducted in an online environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be streamed online for media and public access.
It is anticipated that the meeting will primarily be held in Executive Session, where the Board will discuss with legal counsel pending or imminent court action; collective bargaining matters; and the employment or compensation of a public employee.

Ohio University celebrated the Spring Class of 2021 this past weekend, April 30 – May 2. Graduates were welcomed to participate in person at Peden Stadium or virtually.
This weekend was extra special, as it marked the first time a commencement ceremony was ever held in Peden Stadium.
Our Graduate commencement ceremony was held on Friday at 9 a.m. to honor both master’s and doctoral degrees. The speaker for this ceremony was Dr. Susan Williams, a professor of anatomy in OHIO’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine who was named the 2020 Outstanding Graduate Faculty Award winner.
