EAST OHIO Regional Hospital is offering the COVID-19 vaccine to Belmont County first responders who need it today.
MARTINS FERRY First responders in Belmont County who still need the COVID-19 vaccine can get one today at East Ohio Regional Hospital.
Spokesman Michael Garrison said the vaccine will be given from 8-11 a.m. today in the Skilled Rehab Activity Room. Those responders who cannot attend during that time frame can contact the hospital to make other arrangements.
“We learned from the Belmont County Sheriff’s office that not everyone there had been vaccinated yet and decided to offer our help. We are pleased to support our Belmont County first responders and it is really the least we can do for all they do for our community,” EORH Chief Operating Officer Bernie Albertini said.

MARTINS FERRY In preparation for its future reopening, East Ohio Regional Hospital will be blessed Wednesday.
Michael Garrison, hospital spokesman, said the non-denominational blessing will take place with local clergy, hospital officials and media in attendance. It will not be open to the public because the hospital still is getting ready to reopen.
Chief Operating Officer Bernie Albertini said Dr. Michael Tatro, an emergency medical specialist, and the Rev. William Webster, pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church, will help lead the event.
“We are a community hospital at our core, so it was fitting to call upon clergy from our local community to help us ready EORH for serving the public,” Albertini said in a press release.

The city of Wheeling couldn’t have received much better news to start 2021 than the announcement Tuesday that Bluefield State College is looking to use a portion of the former Ohio Valley Medical Center property to bring a proposed Engineering and Manufacturing Center to Wheeling.
Yes, that’s right, Bluefield State College. Located in Bluefield, West Virginia. About five hours from Wheeling.
Bluefield State and the city entered into a memorandum of understanding that allows the two parties to begin negotiations on the possible use of the former Education and Administration Building on the OVMC campus for the new venture.
When healthcare workers at Olympia Medical Center reported for work on New Year’s Eve, they were prepared for another grueling day of patient care amid L.A.’s worsening COVID-19 surge. What they weren’t prepared for was the laminated paper taped to the front door.
“Olympia Medical Center has elected to voluntarily suspend all patient care services, including the emergency department and all emergency medical services, as of 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2021,” the notice said.
Employees were outraged, blindsided and concerned, with one medical staff officer calling it a “terrible public health mistake” to close an L.A. hospital in the midst of the pandemic.
