A new North American Champion was crowned in the main event of this week s NXT.
In a steel cage match, Bronson Reed defeated Johnny Gargano on NXT tonight to win the NXT North American Championship. After overcoming interference by Austin Theory, Reed hit two top rope splashes on Gargano to win the North American title. Reed refused to win the match by walking out of the door after the first splash and instead chose to hit his Tsunami splash on Gargano to get the pin.
The NXT North American Championship is the first title that Reed has held in WWE. Reed (formerly known as Jonah Rock) joined the WWE Performance Center in February 2019.
The NXT North American Championship will be on the line inside of a steel cage next Tuesday.
WWE has announced that North American Champion Johnny Gargano will defend his title against Bronson Reed in a steel cage match on next Tuesday s episode of NXT. Reed defeated Gargano s The Way stablemate Austin Theory two weeks ago to get the title shot.
This will be the second time Reed has challenged Gargano for the North American Championship. Gargano defeated Reed to retain the title at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver night two last month. At night one, Reed won a number one contender s Gauntlet Eliminator match to set up the title match for night two.
