Along with the rest of India, the first phase of COVID vaccination was held in the eight North-eastern states of India. The vaccine doses were mainly administered to frontline health workers with the chief minister of each states flagging off the vaccination drive.
MANIPUR: An attendant of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal was the first person to get the COVID-19 vaccine (Covishield) in Manipur.
Along with Ningombam Romesh of Khurai who was the first person, a total of 1000 healthcare workers were vaccinated after chief minister N Biren Singh launched the historic vaccination drive of COVID-19 vaccine (Covishield) in the state.
GUWAHATI: The commencement of the Covid vaccination drive at a time when the state is all set to celebrate Bhogali Bihu, has spread cheer and confidence among the community of health workers. This is perhaps the first festival people can enjoy without fear after months of pandemic.
For the last ten months or so health workers have been on their toes, their lives dedicated to the fight against Covid-19. Now there’s a breather for them. Barring some clinics and private healthcare facilities, all frontline health workers from government hospitals and leading private hospitals have been registered in the Co-WIN portal for inoculation.
GUWAHATI: The LGBI airport here will be the nodal point for the distribution of the novel coronavirus vaccine to the entire northeast region, sources at the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said on Monday. The cargo wing of AAI will receive the first consignment from Pune.
An official at AAI said it may take a couple of days for the consignment to reach Guwahati, which has a capacity to stock around 80 metric tons of vaccine doses. “The tentative date for the arrival has not been confirmed,” he said, adding that various locations in the northeast and pick-up points at the airport have been identified for the transportation of the doses via road or air.
GUWAHATI: The Covid vaccination process at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) and Nagaon Civil Hospital (NCH) will be streamed live for monitoring from New Delhi, officials said on Sunday as Assam geared up for the rollout of the process.
Sources in the state health department said during the video conference to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with chief ministers on Monday, the two vaccination venues GMCH and NCH will stay connected online. Health officials from the two sites from Assam, selected among the 74 vaccination sites in the first phase, will also attend the video conference, along with chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
