New York [US], December 14 (ANI/Sputnik): The United Nations Children s Fund (UNICEF) has denounced the recent attack on a boarding school in the northern Nigerian state of Katsina and the abduction of hundreds of boys.
A group of unidentified armed militants attacked the Kankara Government Science Secondary School for boys on Friday, shooting dead the guards and kidnapping up to 400 pupils, half of the school s students who had attended the school premises that day. The rest escaped kidnapping by hiding in the bushes. UNICEF condemns in the strongest possible terms this brutal attack and calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all children and their return to their families, the statement published late on Sunday read.

Two Indian workers in southwest Nigeria have recently been kidnapped, prompting officials in the area to urge foreign nationals to be vigilant. The two had been taken by gunmen on Wednesday as they drove out of a pharmaceutical firm.

Abuja [Nigeria], December 13 (ANI/Sputnik): As many as 400 children could have been kidnapped in the northern Nigerian state of Katsina as their school got attacked by a group of unknown armed men, Nigeria s Vanguard newspaper reported, citing authorities.
The Kankara Government Science Secondary School, an all-boys boarding school, was attacked on Friday. The school s guards were reportedly shot at as intruders stormed the premises. Over 800 children attended the school that day, and it was not immediately clear how many were kidnapped and how many saved themselves by fleeing into bushes.
