The county library already offers e-books, audiobooks and e-magazines 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to its patrons who download the Libby app which like the Sora app, is also made by the company OverDrive. In 2020, the library s digital circulation increased 56% to more than 3.2 million books and materials.

EL CAJON, Calif. (CNS) Cajon Valley Union School District will return to a pre-pandemic schedule of full-time school, five days a week, after spring break on April 12, it was announced Wednesday.
The district serves more than 17,000 students in 27 schools in the East County of San Diego. It has consistently been the first public school district in the county to move toward reopening and returning to normal while other districts take a cautious approach, including becoming the largest county district to get a waiver last fall for in-person education.

Immediately after the state-mandated shut down of schools in April 2020, Cajon Valley reopened a limited number of schools to provide free childcare for essential workers. Initially serving several hundred students, the staff was able to set up schools for social distancing, managing stable student cohorts, and effective use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
During the summer break, over 1,000 Cajon Valley Employees, led by principals, opened all 27 schools for free summer learning and enrichment, serving over 6,500 students. This was a direct scale-up of the childcare pilot. This allowed the district to expand proper safety markings, equipment, and protocol to all schools, as well as a comprehensive training program based on the CDPH Safety Guidelines developed by the nurses and healthcare staff.

With coronavirus case rates in San Diego County showing optimistic trends and a shift to the less restrictive red tier, Cajon Valley Union School District (CVUSD) announced it will return to a five-day school week after spring break.
The East County school district made the announcement Friday in a video and sent a letter Wednesday with details on the planned reopening. The district said it will resume a “pre-pandemic scheduled of full-time school, five days a week.”
