The Customs Area Controller of Oyo/Osun Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Adamu Abdulkadir, has said the command generated N4,896 billion in January 2021.
This is just as he said the command has fashioned out new strategy code-named, “Operation Fish Out,” to nip in the bud, the nefarious activities of smugglers in the area.
Abdulkadir, who made the disclosure while addressing journalists in Ibadan, warned that the command would track, apprehend and prosecute in accordance with section 77 of the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA), those who are aiding smugglers by revealing the actions of its men to them.

The Comptroller, Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adamu R. Abdulkadir, has disclosed that a sum of N4,895,772,769.90 billion has been generated as revenue in January 2021, through expertise and observation by its excise officers.
Abdulkadir stated this, on Thursday, during a press briefing on the activities of the area command in anti-smuggling and revenue generation, held at the command headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Area Controller of Nigeria Custom Services (NCS), Kwara State Command, Hussaini Bello, yesterday, said despite the devastating effects of COVID-19 pandemic across the globe, the command was able to hit 86 per cent of its target for the year 2020.
Presenting the scorecard of the command’s activities from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020, to reporters in Ilorin, Bello, while describing revenue generation as the core mandate of the NCS, said the command generated N6. 91bn in the year under review as against the sum of N2.4bn declared in 2019.
He equally commended the men and officers of the command for tackling smuggling activities and boosting trade at the boarder and beyond.

he Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has revealed that it intercepted an export container concealed with 162 sacks of pangolin scales worth almost one billion naira.
Showcasing the seizures, yesterday at Apapa port, the Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Mohammed Abba-Kura, said the seizure was made based on credible intelligence.
He said one person was arrested for his alleged involvement in the illegal export of the scales of an endangered animal species.
Abba-Kura explained that the 57 sacks of pangolin scales which weigh about 8,800kg and 57 others were mixed with parts of other endangered animal species of various sizes.
The PTML Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service said it generated a total of N189.3 billion from January to December 2020, recording a shortfall of N48.9 billion in its target for the year.
