Galveston Island Beach Patrol authorities and members of the U.S. Coast Guard searched for the body of a boy who drowned after being caught in a rip current on Tuesday, May 10, 2021.
GALVESTON, Texas - Authorities in Texas say a seven-year-old boy is presumed to have drowned after he went missing while at the beach with his family on Tuesday.
The Galveston Beach Control confirmed the likelihood of the child s death late Tuesday, according to local news outlets.
WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. – A 509th Security Forces Squadron member was found dead May 4, near Surfside Beach, Texas, after going missing on Sunday.
Elijah Posana, 22, an active-duty security response team member, was on leave with family when he went missing. Airmen assigned to the 509th Security Forces Squadron protect personnel and assets of the 509th Bomb Wing and its fleet of B-2 Spirit stealth bombers.
On Sunday, Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a notification that Posana, last seen wearing a maroon shirt, was swimming approximately 100-feet from shore when an individual reported seeing him being pulled by a rip current. Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a Coast Guard Station Freeport 29-foot Response Boat-Small boat crew and a Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew.
USCG searches for person in the water near Matagorda, Texas
The Coast Guard is searching for a person in the Colorado River near Matagorda, Texas, Saturday morning.
At approximately 5 a.m., Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received notification of five individuals who were ejected from their vessel after reportedly striking a piling in the water. Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a Coast Guard Station Port O’Connor 29-foot Response Boat-Small boat crew.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department personnel recovered three individuals safely from the water with minor injuries and one person unresponsive.

FREEPORT, Texas - The Coast Guard is searching for a missing U.S. Air Force member who was last seen in the water at Surfside Beach near Freeport on Sunday.
Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a report that 22-year-old Elijah Posana was swimming about 100-feet from shore when someone saw him being pulled by a rip current.
Posana was last seen wearing a maroon shirt.
