Amid the ongoing crisis at the southern border, unaccompanied minors who are soon to be reunified with family members or sponsors will be allowed to seek shelter at the facility, in a move that will be fully funded by the federal government. The Long Beach Convention Center will provide food, schooling, and medical and mental health care for as many as 1,000 unaccompanied minors at a time for up to three months, CBS Los Angeles reported.
