PITTSBURGH, April 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ PointsVille announced a strategic partnership with the Pittsburgh Pirates to offer Season Ticket Holders of the iconic baseball franchise the technology to earn and spend gamified loyalty points. MLB Ballpark app users and Pirates Season Ticket Holders will soon be able to access an in-app version of PointsVille and discover points through events, fun games and campaigns with the ballclub. The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the hiring of Stephen Perkins as the Club’s Executive Vice President, Marketing and Fan Engagement. In this role, Perkins will lead the ballclub’s marketing efforts, including fan experience, communications, broadcasting, digital and social media, special events, in-game entertainment, community outreach, and youth baseball and softball efforts.
Perkins joins the Pirates from the Washington Football Team where he served as Vice President of Marketing since 2019. While with Washington, Perkins oversaw all marketing, creative and business intelligence activities for the Club with a focus on deepening brand affinity and consumer engagement. He was an intricate part in leading the complete rebranding and renaming of the current Washington Football Team.

The Pittsburgh Pirates confirmed today the passing of Grant “Buck” Jackson earlier this morning at Canonsburg Hospital due to COVID-19 complications. Jackson was 78 years-old.
The following is a statement from Pirates President Travis Williams.
“This pandemic has affected every family throughout our community, and the Pirates family is no different. As the winning pitcher for the Pirates in Game 7 of the 1979 World Series, Grant was a World Series Champion and All-Star, who remained dedicated to the Pirates and the City of Pittsburgh since his retirement in 1982. He was an active board member of our Alumni Association who was always willing to help make an impact in our community. More so than any on-field accomplishment, Grant was a proud family man. Our sincere condolences and support go to his wife Millie (Milagro), his children Debra, Yolanda and Grant Jr., as well as his 10 grandchildren. He will be missed.”
