Updated: 5:15 PM EST Jan 21, 2021 People across Central Florida reported hearing loud booms on Thursday and officials in Seminole County say it’s the result of the Navy dropping bombs on the Ocala National Forest as part of its training. “Seminole County has received reports of ground shaking and loud noises in the area as a result of Pinecastle Range Complex Training,” Seminole County officials said on the county’s official Twitter account. The U.S. Navy is dropping live and inert bombs on the Ocala National Forest this week as part of a series of training exercises that will last through Sunday.The bombing at the Pinecastle Range Complex by military jets from the Naval Air Station Jacksonville began Friday morning, according to the NAS Jacksonville website.The range complex is about two miles west of the Camp Ocala campgrounds and near several hiking trails.The explosions and loud noises may push wildlife out of the forest and onto nearby roads.

SANFORD, Fla. – Houses shook in Seminole County on Thursday after “booms” were reported in the area and at the same time smoke was seen rising around the area, however, it turns out the smoke and sound were not related and simply bad timing, according to Seminole County Fire officials.
The window rattling noise was caused by training happening at the Pinecastle Range Complex, a Navy training facility in the Ocala National Forest.

Carrier USS
Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) left Naval Station Norfolk, Va., Tuesday morning for a training exercise ahead of a deployment, a Navy official confirmed to USNI News.
The carrier and its escorts are expected to complete a composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) off the East Coast ahead of a deployment – likely to the Middle East to relieve the Nimitz carrier strike group. A U.S. 2nd Fleet spokesperson would not confirm the destination of the IKE Strike Group, however, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Gilday said

As reported by USNI News in November, the carrier force has been under strain over the last 20 years, and the use of the force accelerated in 2020.
