The Naval Aviation Training Systems and Ranges program office (PMA-205) received Milestone C approval for its next-generation air combat training system, the Tactical Combat Training System Increment II (TCTS II) on April 27, 2021.
Approved by Program Executive Officer for Aviation Common Systems and Commercial Services (PEO(CS)), Gary Kurtz, Milestone C clears the way for the TCTS II program to transition into limited production with the support of industry partner, Collins Aerospace Systems (Collins), Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Going into production of this capability comes after many years of work and planning done by the PMA-205 and Collins team. “I could not be more proud of this team’s achievement revolutionizing the way we train,” said Kurtz.
Installations under Bravo include Naval Support Activity Bethesda, Naval Support Activity Washington, Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Naval Support Activity South Potomac while Naval Support Activity Annapolis is under HPCON Bravo Plus.

Vertex provides contractor logistics support for US strategic airborne command post.
Vertex Aerospace announced on 20 April that it has begun work on an $881.98 million contractor logistics support (CLS) task order from US Naval Air Systems Command, for supply chain management of the E-6B Mercury airborne command post and Take Charge and Move Out (TACAMO) mission.
Work includes furnishing and delivering material required to support organisational and depot-level maintenance and aircraft modifications.
The contract performance period began on 1 February, and work is expected to be completed by 2027.
Vertex is executing the CLS task order at Offutt AFB, Nebraska; Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland; Tinker AFB, Oklahoma; and Travis AFB, California.

ITS Cavour participated in a sequence of operations with U.S. assets and the F-35 Joint Program Office has delivered a flight clearance recommendation to the Italian Navy for the safe operation of fifth generation F-35B fighter aircraft. “I am very proud for the success of ITS Cavour’s ‘Ready for Operations’ campaign,” said Italian Navy Capt. Giancarlo Ciappina, commanding officer of ITS Cavour. “Our allies will soon perceive the Italian Navy and the Italian Armed Forces as a whole, as enhanced cooperative partners thanks to the strategic enabler that the fifth generation aircraft carrier capability would represent, in either specific maritime or wider joint operations.”
