Although Christmas Day is just an ordinary work day for pilots on duty all around the world, some of them like to celebrate the mission in a special way. For example, in the past we have reported about U.S. combat pilots wearing Santa Hat on their flight helmet while joining the tanker for AAR (Air-to-Air Refueling) during a combat mission on Christmas Day, and, you search online, you can find several images of U.S. Navy sailors dressed as Santa Claus working on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier.

This video from a U.S. Navy pilot really gives an idea of the amount of mental focus required to perform a trap landing on an aircraft carrier.
Rob Roy is an active duty U.S. Navy pilot. He’s logged 1,000 flight hours, 135 arrested landings, including 75 as the PIC (Pilot In Command), flying the C-2A(R) Greyhound with the Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 40 (VRC-40) “Rawhides”, one of only two active fleet logistics squadrons in the Navy (the other being VRC-30). The Grumman C-2A Greyhound is a twin-engine, high-wing cargo aircraft, designed to perform the COD (Carrier Onboard Delivery) mission: it carries equipment, passengers (including occasional distinguished visitors) supplies and mail to and from U.S. Navy aircraft carriers. And, considered its size, the Greyhound is, among all the other things, also one of the most difficult aircraft

Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), its escorts and its embarked air wing began its second deployment in a year, the service announced on Wednesday.
The deployment of the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group began at the completion of a sustainment exercise that began shortly after the carrier left San Diego earlier in December.
“Completing SUSTEX confirmed that Carrier Strike Group Nine is ready to sail west to preserve freedom of the seas, deter aggression, and if necessary, win against any competitor,” CSG 9 commander Rear Adm. Doug Verissimo, Commander said in a Navy statement.
