Six candidates to interview for Bozeman Police Chief

Bozeman Police Chief search narrows to three candidates By: MTN News and last updated 2021-02-24 18:14:20-05 (Updated 3:50 p.m. MDT, 02/24/2021) BOZEMAN — The search for Bozeman s new Chief of Police is down to three candidates as of Wednesday, Feb. 24: Jim Baumstark, Eric Paulson, and Jim Veltkamp. Baumstark has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, including 16 years at the executive level, and joined the Asheville Police Department (APD) in North Carolina as the Deputy Chief in 2015. Paulson has more than 23 years of law enforcement experience and currently serves as Deputy Chief of Police at the Santa Ana Police Department. Veltkamp began his career in public service in 1999 when he first joined the Bozeman Police Department, where he currently serves as the Interim Chief and Deputy Chief.

Improving health outcomes, readiness is aim of new grant funding

The Defense Health Agency (DHA) Research and Development Directorate released a grant opportunity to support research aimed at improving health care and military readiness within the Military Health System. The Military Health System Research Program’s (MHSRP) Notice of Funding Opportunity amplifies how DHA is a learning organization committed to fostering high-value research that supports better care, better health, and increased readiness, with lower costs. First established in 2019, the program provides funding for competitive intramural and extramural research awards. Prior awardees focused include: Dartmouth College, Pennsylvania State University, Brown University, Naval Postgraduate School, Naval Health Research Center, and the U.S. Army Institute for Surgical Research.
