Sailing on a research vessel is part of the job for many geoscientists. Those who have sailed recognize it as a transformative and novel experience that can cultivate long-lasting friendships, collaborations, and alliances. Previous and ongoing projects at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory have utilized these benefits as a platform for broadening participation in the geosciences: for example, the
Coe-Brown Northwood Academy is located in Northwood. It served students from Northwood, Strafford and surrounding towns.
The Valedictorian for the Class of 2021 is
Kira Neal Burk. Kira is the daughter of Allison Neal and Jerry Burk of Barrington. Kira will attend Dartmouth College with an interest in Environmental Science and Environmental Studies with a Sustainability focus.
She would like to work in the area of sustainable policy and development or pursue climate change research. While at CBNB, Kira participated in Girl s Tennis Team, National Honors Society, National English Honors Society, Writing Center, all while working at Golick s Dairy Bar.

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina University head men’s basketball coach Cliff Ellis has announced the signing of Rueadale “Rudi” Williams (Hamilton, Ontario/Kansas State) to the 2021-22 basketball roster.
Williams transfers to the Chanticleers program following a year at Kansas State where he played in 27 games, making four starts, and averaging 18 minutes per game. He averaged almost five points per game, along with 2.7 rebounds, and was fourth on the team with 37 assists.

CONWAY, S.C. â Coastal Carolina Universityâs DZ Harmon has signed a professional contract with the Charleston Battery of the United Soccer League (USL) it was announced by Charleston Thursday morning.
A three-year standout for the Chants, Harmon transferred to CCU after playing as a freshman at Clayton State University. He played in 44 matches over his three years with the Chants, starting 30. He helped lead CCU to regular-season Sun Belt titles in 2020, and Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championships in both 2019 and 2020, and was a second-team All-Sun Belt pick in 2019.
