Authorities looking for driver in Christmas Eve hit-and-run that killed 81-year-old woman Updated Dec 28, 2020; Authorities are trying to locate the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident on Christmas Eve that killed an 81-year-old woman, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said on Monday. Roberto Alcazar-Sanchez, 27, of Jackson, is believed to have been driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado on Thursday around 6 p.m. Thursday when he collided with a 2010 Mercedes Benz in Jackson Township as the other driver was making a left turn from I-195 onto Cedar Swap Road, the prosecutor’s office said. Alcazar-Sanchez then fled the scene on foot and is being now being sought, authorities said.

Man who admitted stealing $100K from 73-year-old blind woman headed to prison Updated Dec 18, 2020; A man who admitted befriending a 73-year-old blind Toms River woman and stealing over $100,000 from her was sentenced Friday to seven years in state prison, authorities said. Tyler Dietlmeier, 28, of Toms River, pleaded guilty on Oct. 23 to theft by deception and criminal coercion and received seven and four-year state prison sentences, respectively, for each crime, according to a statement from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. The sentences will run concurrently. On Jan. 27, the Toms River Police were called to a home for a report of fraudulent activity that had occurred there and an investigation revealed that Dietlmeier had become friendly with the woman, under false pretenses, knowing that she was legally blind and lived alone, the office said.
