POINT PLEASANT BEACH - A Newark man admitted in court on Thursday that he stabbed two people on Jenkinson s beach last Labor Day after a fight escalated, authorities said.
Juwan Roman, 18, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose before Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels, according to a news release from Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
Roman was charged immediately following the Sept. 7 stabbings, but his name was not previously made public because he was a juvenile at the time.
Earlier this week, Roman agreed to be charged as an adult and the case was moved from Family Court where juvenile cases are typically handled to adult criminal court, Billhimer said.
