Previously, such a surgery would take multiple surgeries and years of recovery, but those new techniques and technology mean the Marine will return to duty after just one surgery and a few months of recovery. A lucky Marine made military medical history by becoming the first service member to receive a reconstructed jaw made out of one of his leg bones, complete with 3D-printed teeth, all in one surgery.

In 2014 and 2015, Farhat was on assigned temporary duty at the Navy Base Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, where he oversaw a private company’s $15 million contract to construct an aircraft hangar and a telecommunications facility.  After the projects were completed, the company submitted more than $6 million worth of Requests for Equitable Adjustment, which allows a contractor to recover costs associated with constructive changes related to the project.

The U.S. Marine Corps recently completed an exercise aboard the Air-Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms. More than 600 Marines with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and 1st Marine Division came to the Combat Center to train in Steel Knight/Dawn Blitz December 4-9. Steel Knight/Dawn Blitz 21 are annual exercises that provide intense training to ensure 1st Marine Division remains lethal, combat-ready, interoperable, and deployable on short notice. Marines from 3rd MAW helicopters, refuelers, and Ospreys trained with ground and infantry troops in exercises that were similar to missions performed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
