Integrated Training Exercise, or ITX, is a training exercise on the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms that focuses on the tactical application of combined-arms maneuver warfare. ITX provides service-level assessments of battalion-size units and their associated combat support, combat service support, and aviation assets while conducting live-fire training. The purpose of ITX is to create a challenging, realistic training environment that produces combat-ready forces capable of operating as an integrated Marine Air-Ground Task Force. Marines with 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment are currently training in Fire Support Coordination Exercise, a sub-event of Integrated Training Exercise 3-21.

A 49-year-old Yucca Valley man was arrested Thursday, accused of sexting a 17-year-old girl. Detectives at the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station learned that Miguel Alsop had been sending inappropriate text messages to the girl. Detectives obtained a search warrant, and about 9 a.m. Tuesday, went to Alsop’s home in the 7100 block of Rubidoux Avenue. During their investigation, detectives discovered that Alsop had sent several sexual-related texts to the girl. An arrest warrant was issued for Alsop’s arrest, and about 6 p.m. Thursday, April 8, Alsop turned himself in. Miguel Alsop was arrested on suspicion of sending obscene material to seduce a minor, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.

The Combat Center’s Range 400 is the only training ground in the Marine Corps where live fire is authorized, and where 81mm mortar fire can close within 250 meters, instead of the regulation 400 meters. The California Highway Patrol has released more information about a crash in Morongo Valley Thursday that injured a woman. About 12:25 p.m., Christina Hilton, 33, of Yucca Valley, was driving a black 2008 Porsche Cayenne westbound on Highway 62. She had pulled into the left turn lane to turn southbound onto Rose Eden Drive and was waiting for traffic to clear. Her view of oncoming traffic was partially blocked by an unrelated truck that was stopped eastbound on the highway, waiting to make a left turn onto northbound Rose Eden Drive. Hilton thought the traffic was cleared and turned. A black 2020 Ford Explorer, driven by Travis Blaschek-Miller, 42, of Orinda, was traveling eastbound on the highway in the number one lane.
