U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Julian D. Alford’s time as commanding general of Marine Corps Installations-East (MCIEAST)-Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune has come to an end.  Brig. Gen. Andrew M. Niebel assumed duties as the eighth commanding general of MCIEAST-MCB Camp Lejeune during a change of command ceremony at Camp Lejeune, Friday, June 4. Continuing a nearly 30-year Marine Corps career as a combat engineer and logistician, Niebel takes on his new role following two years as Marine Corps Installations Command Chief of Staff. Alford is set to assume duties as commanding general for Training Command at Marine Corps Base Quantico after four years as commanding general at Camp Lejeune, where he has had 14 years of assignments, according to Camp Lejeune Communication Strategy and Operations.
