The September trip to South Korea was supposed to be a goodwill mission sponsored by the Defense Department. At the time, Reginald Centracchio was adjutant general of the Rhode Island National Guard and it was his honor to escort 42 veterans of the Korean War back to the place where they had served.
“It was somewhat overcast,” he remembers. A storm was brewing to the south that day as General Centracchio was standing on the edge of the demilitarized zone with some staff members and the group of Rhode Island veterans.
“We had been invited by South Korea to experience a ceremony which they did to recognize the end of what they call the Battles of the Outposts,” the final, bloody two years of the Korean War when half of America’s casualties occurred.

When the pandemic first started, we heard nonstop about how in short supply PPE (personal protective equipment) was. Doctors, nurses, and anyone in the medical field have always used fresh PPE with new patients so as not to cross-contaminate patients with germs, etc.
But with the pandemic, PPE has been in such short supply that there have been plenty of stories of medical personnel having to re-use PPE so they can keep themselves as safe as possible, too.
One thing we haven t talked about in a while, though, or heard about in a while, is PPE. And I feel like we tend to believe (or maybe I m just speaking for myself when I say this) that when we aren t constantly hearing about something that we used to be, then that problem is solved. (Actually, that literally could just be a me thing, now that I think about it file it under wishful thinking. )
Mass. Military Support Foundation organizes coat drive for veterans in Worcester
WORCESTER Distribution of winter coats to veterans at the Central Community Branch YMCA parking lot Friday is one of the ways that a Massachusetts foundation works to help veterans year round.
Massachusetts Military Support Foundation organized the event to distribute 500 coats with support from Ocean State Job Lot, Worcester Red Sox and the Central Community Branch YMCA. The distribution is part of the Buy, Give, Get Program, a drive organized by Ocean State Job Lot and military support foundations to collect and distribute coats across nine states.
Don Cox, president and CEO of Massachusetts Military Support Foundation, said his organization was founded in 2017 to provide assistance to veterans and military families in Massachusetts. Originating in Cape Cod, Massachusetts Military Support Foundation has expanded its reach to cover the rest of the Commonwealth. According to its website, t
