22-year-old man dies in cliff fall in Co Cork

Southern Editor A 22-year-old man has died after falling 20 metres into a blowhole from cliffs near Garretstown beach in Co Cork. He was part of a large group who were camping overnight on the beach. A 23-year-old friend who went to his assistance was rescued and taken to hospital where he is being treated for hypothermia. The alarm was raised at around 11.30pm. A team of volunteers from the Old Head/Seven Heads Coast Guard Unit, local divers, gardaí and ambulance personnel attended the scene. The operation was overseen by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre at Valentia in Co Kerry.

Navy rescues fishermen aboard stranded dinghy at sea Sri Lanka Navy, with the facilitation of Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC Colombo) stationed at Navy Headquarters, leapt into action today (27 th February 2021) to rescue 02 fishermen aboard a dinghy that was swept away to the Indian waters. The dinghy that had ventured out for fishing practice from South Bar, Mannar was in distress due to a technical failure. In response to a request for assistance by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Sri Lanka Navy was pressed into action to locate this dinghy (Register No. OFRP –A-950 MNR) that had gone missing, while out on a fishing voyage from South Bar on 23

Naval Chief Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi visited the headquarters of Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) in Karachi on Monday. The Naval Chief was briefed on the duties and operational activities of the Maritime Security Agency at the Maritime Operation Centre. He also paid a visit to the headquarters of Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre. Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi met the personnel of Maritime Security Agency and appreciated their resolve. On the occasion, the Naval Chief said the efforts of the Maritime Security Agency to check illegal activities in the countries maritime boundaries are commendable.
