The protesters have also agreed to bury the slain coal miners. Thousands of Hazara protesters, including women and children, had staged a sit-in at the Western Bypass in extremely cold weather for the last six days against the brutal execution of 10 Hazara coal miners in Machh. Meanwhile, speaking to the protesters on the occasion, Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi said that such incidents of violence must now come to an end.

ECC approves issuance of $500 mln Eurobonds to finance Diamer Basha, Mohmand dams   Published On The ECC approved amendments in the Master Plan for establishing five terminals ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Federal Cabinet Thursday approved the Ministry of Water Resources’ proposal in principle for the issuance of WAPDA’s debut $500 million Eurobonds to arrange finances for Diamer Basha and Mohmand dams. The ECC, which met with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh in the chair, directed for working out modalities for the issuance of the bonds in consultation with the Finance Division and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), according to a Finance Ministry press release.

Pakistan to provide direct funding to fishermen

Karachi: Pakistan is planning to provide financial assistance to fishermen in order to promote entrepreneurship for economic empowerment. The federal government is going to offer direct funding to the fishermen under its flagship “Kamyab Jawan” (successful youth) programme. The programme offers loans to skilled and qualified youth for entrepreneurship. “This opportunity is being generated for fishermen to develop small partnerships within their community under Kamyab Jawan programme to purchase boats for fishing on their own, instead of doing jobs related to fisheries,” Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi said. “This is being rolled out for first time in the history of Pakistan,” he said.
