KADECO: Operations in Kafanchan business units closed down

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, KADECO, said it has to shut down operations of its Kafanchan business units indefinitely following the protest that turned violent in the area against high increase in electricity tariff and epileptic power supply. Its Head of Corporate Communication, Alh. Abdulazeez Abdullahi, said that their staff in the area were no longer safe as a result of the attack during the protest. He explained that their staff were no longer safe to operate in Kafanchan looking at how the protesters stormed, vandalised their offices and burnt down other valuables. Abdullahi explained, “The total blackout in Kafanchan will continue as a result of the consequences of the protesters. Our staff are no longer safe to operate for now until normalcy returns but surrounding communities will continue to enjoy supply.”

Task force arrests 7 over metre cloning in Kaduna

By Tue Jan 19 2021 The Special Investigation and Prosecution Task Force on Electricity Offences, constituted by the Federal Ministry of Justice, has arrested seven suspects over offences of prepaid metre cloning, metre theft and vandalism in Kaduna State. The task force which was inaugurated in Kaduna last year to assist in the fight against electricity offences paraded the suspects at its office at the Federal Secretariat, Kaduna. The team leader of the task force, ASP Aliyu Bamali, said the suspects had cloned at least 13 metres, adding that one Iliya Maigari was arrested for working with one Alex Zamani, a technician, to clone metres or transfer memory from one metre to another.
