Scores protest in Kathmandu against Chinese interference in Nepalese affairs ANI | Updated: Dec 28, 2020 01:18 IST Kathmandu [Nepal], December 28 (ANI): Scores of people protested in Kathmandu on Sunday against Chinese interference in domestic affairs of Nepal shouting anti-China slogans and holding placards reading, “Back off China.” This comes as China s four-member team led by Guo Yezhou, vice-minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) arrived here on Sunday on a four-day visit in what is believed to be its effort to assess the ground situation amid the split in the ruling the Nepal Communist Party (NCP).  According to sources, Guo is expected to meet the senior leaders of both the factions of the NCP.

The team being sent by Chinese president, Xi Jinping is led by Guo Yechau, vice minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. The team will land in Kathmandu today. The team will meet with key players in Nepal and will try to patch matters between the warring factions.

After meeting with President Bidya Devi, Bhandari, Chinese ambassador Hou Yanqi is also said to have met with Prime Minister, K P Oli s rival, P K Dahal aka Prachanda, who is the co-chair of the ruling Nepal Communist Party. The meeting with Bhandari took place two days after the President signed off on Prime Minister K P Oli Sharma s recommendation to dissolve Parliament. Oli s decision to dissolve Parliament would given him a smooth run up to the elections and he would also split the Nepal Communist Party.

The meeting took place two days after the President signed off on Prime Minister K P Oli Sharma s recommendation to dissolve Parliament. Oli s decision to dissolve Parliament would given him a smooth run up to the elections and he would also split the Nepal Communist Party. The split is something that China has been trying to avert. The Nepal Communist Party was formed around 3 years back with the merger of Oli s Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) and his rival Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda s Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Centre.
