The government on Wednesday said Indian Standards for low-cost AC charging point for electric vehicles (EVs) will be released within the next two months with target prices starting as low as Rs 3,500 for a charging unit. A committee involving all key stakeholders, including EV manufacturers, auto and electronic component suppliers, power utilities, and communication service providers, has worked in fast-track mode to develop specifications, prototype products, and undertake testing and validation of the proposed standards, an official statement said. These will be formally issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), it said, adding the draft Indian Standards has been taken up by the BIS Committee on Electromobility Standards.

EVgo and GM launched the first Ultium-ready fast chargers recently with a goal of 500 fast charging stalls live by the end of 2021. The partnership between the two companies includes plans for 2,700 fast chargers by the year 2025. Each site will have an average of four chargers per site.

As Tesla firms up its plans to roll out its first all-electric car in India this year, the Elon Musk-run company has hired top executives in the country who has taken charge of some of its operations in the country.
After Musk confirmed Tesla s arrival in India, Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa declared in February that the US-based electric vehicle and clean energy company will set up its production unit here. Tesla has already registered its office in Bengaluru.
Now, it has ramped up hiring for top positions and has onboarded IIM Bangalore alumnus Manuj Khurana as Policy and Business Development head for India operations.
