10 March 2021 On the occasion of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland’s No Smoking Day, the UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) was presented with the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases (UNIATF) 2020 Award. The award ceremony took place virtually with Dr Zsuzsanna Jakab, Deputy Director-General of the World Health Organization, handing over the UNIATF award to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Prevention, Public Health and Primary Care, Mrs Jo Churchill. This award recognizes the UK Government’s commitment to the global prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases, specifically in supporting low- and middle-income countries to tackle tobacco use through the FCTC 2030 project.
