$200m available for tourism, community projects

Round five of the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund is now accepting applications online. It includes $100 million for tourism infrastructure and another $100 million for other, general infrastructure projects. Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry said the funding, which was announced in the 2020-21 Budget, would help mitigate the economic effects of COVID-19. “2020 was a challenging year for our community, with bushfires, drought and a global pandemic but the BBRF will help to kick-start this new year, bringing support to community driven projects our at a time it is most needed,” she said.

Capricornia MP Michelle Landry said communities in the region had faced a tough year with bushfires, drought and the COVID-19 pandemic and encouraged them to apply for the grants. “The Australian Government is here for our communities, we have the funding and we are ready to support them for as long as it takes through dedicated initiatives such as the Building Better Regions Fund,” she said. “Throughout rural and regional Australia, we have $100 million of targeted support for tourism-related infrastructure to get regional tourism back on its feet, while maintaining $100 million for broader community infrastructure and investment.

The pump track is an undulating asphalt course designed around the word ‘Omeo’ and suitable for skill levels from beginners to the most advanced. The skills park section on a natural surface includes features and components have been sourced from the local area and repurposed as integral elements.
