A Timmins man faces multiple charges including drug and weapons offenses following an incident at Sharidan Trailer Park Thursday that saw an OPP specialized unit called in to dispose of a homemade explosive device.
The Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations Division executed a search warrant at a Tony Street address and determined that a local man was in unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, other weapons, and quantities of controlled substances.

In the course of executing the search warrant, a “suspicious device was located within the residence which triggered a containment situation to occur until the item could be rendered harmless,” according to a release issued by the Timmins Police Service.

There was presumably, according to some thing, that there was a big ball of fire and the police could smell fuel burning and so on and so forth. There must have been two pilots. I don’t know if any of the nine persons from the rural area are pilots, but the pilots and I would imagine that a lot more drugs would be in a plane that size. Those were able to get away, but they were able to get some of the drugs.”

A joint police drug investigation and traffic stop Wednesday has netted authorities a substantive seizure of illicit drugs leading to criminal charges laid against three Toronto men, a Cornwall-area man and a Belleville woman.
Project Renewal, a joint operation between Belleville Police and Ontario Provincial Police units, said Thursday a list of drug-offences charges were laid after a vehicle was pulled over and searched in the city’s east end Wednesday.

A search was conducted of a home in the west end of the city following the traffic stop and more drugs are alleged to have been found.
