Commercial space, restaurant proposed in $1 3 million DA

Premium Content Subscriber only Commercial premises and a restaurant have been proposed in a new development application for a South Murwillumbah property. An application for $1.3 million worth of works at 11 River St was formally lodged with Tweed Shire Council by RJ Barry Constructions Pty Ltd on Wednesday. The site is home to an existing dwelling. According to documents submitted with the council, the dwelling has been refurbished and is in good condition and would like be sold and relocated.   The home already on the property at 11 River St, South Murwillumbah. The DA seeks approval for a mixed-use development involving about 228 sqm of commercial premises on the first floor and a restaurant above it.

Ex-RGD boss avoids bankruptcy with $100k deal

The former director of a major building firm which collapsed with debts of about $31 million has avoided bankruptcy with creditors to receive between 0.4 and seven cents in the dollar. Former RGD Group Pty Ltd and RGD Constructions Pty Ltd director Ron Grabbe entered into a Personal Insolvency Agreement with creditors of his estate in mid-November, avoiding bankruptcy after a dramatic collapse of his building empire earlier this year. The agreement was carried out on December 9, with creditors now given until January 7, 2021, to lodge a proof of debt, to claim between 0.4 cents and seven cents in the dollar of the dividend set to be declared.

Email exchanges between the owners from December last year, revealed in court documents, showed a business relationship in decline. Mr Kendall and Mr Rankin disagreed on how much development and project manager Jim Costello should be paid as part of a services agreement.
