LONG ISLAND, BAHAMAS Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis, accompanied by a delegation including Long Island MP Adrian Gibson and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Works Desmond Bannister, officially opened a renovated bridge and road on Long Island today.
“It is a pleasure to be with you today to officially declare open two infrastructure projects for Long Island,” the prime minister said at the opening event. “These projects are part of our vision and plans for the ongoing development of the Bahamas gem and treasure that is Long Island.”

An Auckland construction company has received a hefty fine after ignoring a notice to stop work while safety measures were improved. Hobson Construction Limited were sentenced at the Auckland District Court on Wednesday and fined $180,000 for exposing workers to a risk of a fall from height at a residential construction site. A WorkSafe Inspector visited the Millwater site for an assessment in July 2018 and noted a number of health and safety failings, relating to inadequate fall protection and work from height.
