Hāwera’s Candace Hipp has been awarded the latest $5000 Craig Norgate Taranaki Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship means Hipp, who works for Hāwera accounting firm McCallum & Dallas, will be able to keep on studying to become a chartered accountant. Candace has a part-time job to fund her studies and says the scholarship will take some of the financial pressure off her and her partner, who is also studying. Norgate, Fonterra’s first chief executive, was a former chief executive of New Zealand Chartered Accountants. He died in 2015, aged 50. In 2017 Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand launched two memorial scholarships to support Kiwis setting out on their careers as chartered accountants though enrolment in the CA Program.
Accounting professionals are likely to remain in hot demand over the coming year as they continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the journey towards the nation’s economic recovery.
