Eastern Michigan University Establishes Joint Engineering College with Chinaâs Beibu Gulf University

Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti and Beibu Gulf University in China have finalized an agreement to establish the Eastern Michigan University Joint College of Engineering, Beibu Gulf University.
The agreement calls for a 15-year cooperative partnership that will begin with up to 300 students being enrolled in the new program annually for the first four years, starting in the upcoming fall semester. Overall enrollment on the joint campus eventually will reach up to 1,200 students.

YPSILANTI, Mich., May 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Eastern Michigan University and Beibu Gulf University in China have finalized an agreement to establish the Eastern Michigan University Joint College of Engineering, Beibu Gulf University.
The agreement calls for a 15-year cooperative partnership that will begin with up to 300 students being enrolled in the new program annually for the first four years. Overall enrollment on the joint campus will eventually represent up to 1,200 students. Upon successful completion, a student will receive degrees from both Beibu Gulf University (BGU) and Eastern Michigan University (EMU).
The Beibu Gulf campus is in the city of Qinzhou, which is located in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China. The Eastern Michigan-Beibu Gulf partnership represents the only international joint college in the region, which has a population of more than 50 million people.

HIGH COUNTRY â The manufacturing industry in the High Country is alive and well. Structall Building Systems is set to join other manufacturing companies in the region, such as Altec Industries and BRP, once it opens its Newland plant later this year. Structall will be looking to hire workers from the local community who can gain the required expertise by attending the Anspach Advanced Manufacturing School at Mayland Community Collegeâs Yancey Campus.
Structall specializes in the manufacturing of building materials, specifically its flagship product, which are energy-efficient Snap-and-Lock insulation panels that are designed for increased efficiency in the building process. Based in Oldsmar, Fla., the executives at Structall are hoping that once the new plant in Newland opens, they will be able to hire qualified individuals who are looking for a long-term career with the company.
