Kym Jolstad has always been a doer.
When she was 12, her father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The preteen immediately participated in her first Walk MS to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She did the walk on more than a dozen occasions, raising thousands of dollars.
Last year, when Jolstad s mother, Kathie Kemi of Cloquet, Minn., was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, Jolstad once again sprang into action.
Robyn Hobson is the picture of positivity.
To start 2020, 29-year-old Robyn Hobson was named Teacher of the Year at her school. Five months later, she was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer.
But the fourth grade math and science teacher refuses to let that get her down.
“I want to bring a positive voice to this disease,” she said.
She’s teaming up with local Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) volunteers to do that by sharing her story and positivity – and raising awareness of the disease through social media and community events.
In May, Robyn had gone to the doctor with some side pain and nausea that wouldn’t go away. “I felt pretty normal, and the doctors told me I was in great shape and great health and they didn’t think anything major was wrong.”

Anne-Marie is a senior executive with extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. In her most recent role as executive vice president and chief medical officer at Rigel Pharmaceuticals, she led the development of new drugs for auto-immune diseases and was responsible for getting their first drug approved.
Anne-Marie has lost several friends to pancreatic cancer and another is currently battling the disease. She looks forward to bringing her expertise to large-scale, life-changing initiatives like PanCAN’s Precision Promise℠ to improve treatment options for pancreatic cancer patients.
