The verbal war came as the Asawo of Ayete, in Ibarapa North local government area of Oyo State, Oba Emmanuel Okeniyi, also, yesterday, insisted that Wakili was involved in the destruction of farmlands in his domain, which ruined business for most farmers in the area.

The chairman of the group, Alhaji Yusuf Gizori, who alleged that his sister was shot by the OPC, said one of the houses allegedly set ablaze by the OPC members contained N5 million meant for members of his group.

Farmers frustrated as cows invade Ekiti farms, destroy ready-for-harvest maize Abiodun Nejo Ekiti State-based farmer, Tunde Afe, is still counting the losses he incurred after cows destroyed his farm thrice, the latest being in January 2021. It was gathered that some herdsmen led cows to graze on the farm. Afe, who is a cleric in the state, said his cassava farm was destroyed by cows a fortnight ago in Itapaji, Ikole Local Government Area of the state. He added that destruction of farms by herdsmen’s cattle was routine in the state. He said, “Parts of my cassava farm at Itapaji Ekiti were eaten up by cows two weeks ago. Farmers have stopped reporting to the police because nothing came out of all the reports made so far. The Fulani herdsmen are wreaking havoc in Ekiti. This is the third time they are destroying my farm.”

Prominent Fulani leader, Sale Bayari, is dead

Bayari died Thursday night at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), after a brief illness. Until his death, he was the National President of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN) as well as the former national secretary of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), where he served for about two decades. He has also participated in many national and grassroots development initiatives, and was a remarkable mobilizer in that respect, among his other societal growth engagements. GAFDAN’s  Plateau State Chairman, Garba Abdullahi Muhammad,  confirmed Bayari’s death to Daily Trust. Bayari has buried Friday morning acording to Islamic rites.
