Hope holding special town meeting May 6 to vote on $3 million school budget

Tuesday, March 2, 2021 HOPE  The Town of Hope will be holding a special town meeting Thursday, May 6 to vote on the new school budget for Hope Elementary School.  The meeting will be held at 6:30 pm. on the field of the school.  Article 1: Elect a moderator to preside Article 2: Regular Instruction • Regular Instruction PreK-8: $1,343,871 (up $19,195)  • Gifted and Talented: $32,281 (up $2,939)  Article 3: Special Education • Instruction: $635,041 (up $25,389)  • Office: $54,395 (up $5,960)  Article 4: Career and Technical Education The school committee recommends spending no money in this area.  Article 5: Other Instruction • Co-curricular activities: $10,958 (down $100)  • Extra-curricular activities $18,339 (up $1,550)  Article 6: Student and Staff Support The school and budget committees recommend $287,668.  • Elementary Guidance: $72,498 (up $2,667) 

Oswego school district announces budget hearing is May 4

OSWEGO — The Oswego City School District will conduct its annual budget hearing on Tuesday, May 4 immediately following the regular Board of Education meeting which begins at 5 p.m. OCSD officials will present the proposed $91,159,811 budget for the 2021-22 school year during the hearing, which will be livestreamed on Spectrum Channel 16 locally and YouTube.com/WBUCNY. “We are excited to present this budget to the community with a 0% tax increase for the second straight year while importantly seeing no cuts to any of our programs or staff,” said OCSD Superintendent Dr. Mathis Calvin III. Anyone who would like to submit a question to be read during the hearing may do so via a link on Oswego.org or tinyurl.com/OCSDBudgetHearing between 1 p.m. April 29 and 1 p.m. May 4.

Appleton eyes school budget a smidgen shy of $3 million

APPLETON  Voters in Appleton will cast their ballots for the proposed Appleton Village School budget in the coming weeks with Election Day slated for Tuesday, June 8.  The school committee and town budget committee recommend expending $2,997,875 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2022.  Below is the budget breakdown with variances compared to this school year shown when available.  Article 1: Regular Instruction • Kindergarten - $0 • Gifted and Talented - $82,472 (up $2,966)  Article 2: Special Education • Instruction: $604,393 (down $23,550)  • Office $43,701 (up $3,807)  Article 3: Career and Technical Education  The school and budget committees recommend spending no money in this area.  Article 4: Other Instruction  • Co-curricular: $9,587 (no change)  • Extra-curricular: $26,696 (down $3,200) 

Pittsfield: School Committee vacancy announced

Due to the resignation of a member of the Pittsfield School Committee, an individual is sought to serve the rest of the term, which expires at the end of December 2021. Applicants must be a Pittsfield resident and a registered voter. Interested individuals must send a brief description of his/her background and an explanation as to why he/she would be a good candidate to Rosemarie Blake, Administrative Assistant,  Superintendent s Office, 269 First St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 or rblake@pittsfield.net by Monday, May 3. In accordance with the City Charter, the School Committee and the City Council will meet at a special joint session at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, to make the selection.
