70% of available covishield vaccines to be used for second dose in Karnataka News Network May 8, 2021 Bengaluru, May 8: 70 per cent of the available stock of Covishield in Karnataka would be utilised to vaccinate people above 45 years of age who are due for second dose, Health Minister K Sudhakar said on Saturday. The rest 30 per cent would be used to vaccinate the 45 years and above age group seeking first dose, he said. Covaxin will be administered only to 45+ who are due for 2nd dose after 6 weeks of 1st dose , the Minister tweeted. Karnataka on Friday reported 592 Covid deaths and 48,781 new cases. The State government on Friday announced the imposition of strict lockdown from May 10 to 24.

The first file that Stalin put his seal of approval related to disbursing of the first instalment of Rs 2,000 of the Rs 4,000 promised as one-time Covid-19 relief for families in the state.

The ministry said that this is part of the regulations it announced regarding the issuance of permits for Umrah and prayer at the Grand Mosque during Ramadan. The regulations include obtaining a permit for Umrah and prayer from Eatmarna and Tawakkalna applications; immunization through two dozes of vaccination or completion of 14 days after taking the first dose of vaccination or recovery from the coronavirus infection.
