Graduation ceremonies were briefly discussed during the regular school board meeting Wednesday. Seniors can be happy that the topic is on the table, unlike last year when the COVID-19 pandemic kept the ceremonies from happening and schools resorted to drive-thru graduation events.
District Superintendent Ann Levett told the school board that she has received many questions about graduation ceremonies for the class of 2021. She said that tentative plans are being made for limited in-person graduation ceremonies this spring.

The Savannah-Chatham County School Board voted at its regular meeting Wednesday to implement a three-day/two-day amended hybrid model to return students to the classroom during this current semester. The resolution passed 7-2-0 with the no votes coming from Tonia Howard-Hall, District 8 representative, and David Bringman, District 6 representative.
No date was determined for returning the students to the classroom. Students will remain in virtual learning for now.
During the initial discussion after the resolution was read, District 2 representative Dionne Hoskins-Brown said, I am not able to support it in its current form (because) it removes the metric of when to close and when to reopen a school.
